Our Cattle
Bridwell West Ranch’s base cow herd is a Red Angus, Hereford cross, producing a Red Angus (RA Brown) sired calf that is a genetically-balanced product. Our goal is to is produce an animal that is healthy, performs at the top of the industry and is a highly desired, safe product, resulting in an excellent consumer experience.
The ranch has been a closed herd for over 40 years and continues to raise quality replacement heifers for our operations and other producers. Our calves are “All Natural” and hormone free, as certified by IMI Global (Where Food Comes From) and also meet all requirements for GAP Certification.
We believe in balanced genetics, producing a feeder calf at the top of the class for performance on grass and in the feedyard, resulting in a finished product that has yield, and grade. Recent results show that our feeders will be from 25% to as high as 63% prime with the balance being high choice or choice.
These genetics also produce a female that is high in fertility and longevity and, most of all, will produce a calf that will perform in all areas.
We not only want a cow that suits our country, she also needs to be conformationally and genetically good and one that can get out and make a living across a broad range of cow country.
Bridwell Ranches employees are graduates of the Beef Quality Assurance program, which is a nationally coordinated, state-implemented program that provides systematic information to U.S. beef producers and beef consumers on how common-sense husbandry techniques can be coupled with accepted scientific knowledge to raise cattle under optimum management and environmental conditions. BQA guidelines are designed to make certain all beef consumers can take pride in what they purchase – and can trust and have confidence in the entire beef industry.
